Common Questions

Homeowners Insurance FAQ

No. Standard homeowners insurance in Florida does NOT include flood coverage. Flood insurance is a separate policy, typically through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or private flood carriers. Given Florida's flood risk, we strongly recommend adding flood coverage to every homeowners policy.

Florida homeowners policies have a separate hurricane deductible, typically 2-5% of your dwelling coverage amount. For example, if your home is insured for $400,000 with a 2% hurricane deductible, you'd pay the first $8,000 of hurricane damage out of pocket. We help you choose the right deductible balance between premium savings and out-of-pocket risk.

Replacement cost pays to rebuild or replace your property at current prices with no deduction for depreciation. Actual cash value (ACV) factors in depreciation, meaning you receive less as items age. We recommend replacement cost coverage for both your dwelling and personal property to avoid being underinsured after a loss.
